Protest and Suggest the Cure for the One Percent

Now that Time Magazine has named the protester as person of the year, it’s safe to say that somethings are finally changing. If 1 % of the population has most of wealth, then there is something wrong with the system. Could it be that the 99% are all lazy and are bad with money? Or could it be that people get paid more for being famous (like reality stars) rather than for actually helping people (teachers, police officers, etc..). People are tired of the system and want a cure for the 1%.

This is what inspired the Cure for the 1% design. The more recent Occupy Wall Street (and other city’s) movements have resurrected some of the feelings that inspired the French Revolution. It must have been quite a sight to see the starving masses drag aristocrats to the guillotine. For those protestors that are a little more old school, the “Viva la Revolution” guillotine design was created.

Both guillotine designs that were created have that unmistakable shape and texture of the angled blade made famous by the French Revolution. The text on each design appears to be written in blood, except for the Gabriel Angel Design logo which is semi transparent along the blade.

While you are deciding whether to be a part of the revolution, remember this: the way you look upon those panhandlers begging for change at busy intersections is probably the same way that millionaires and billionaires look upon us 99%.

Cyber Monday May Have Gone from Gimmick to Reality

Well I know that Cyber Monday started out as a gimmick to excite all the Black Friday shoppers that were still ready to spend (along with those that avoided the rush all together). I never really paid too much attention to it, but this year I might have to start.

Previously, my sales did not make any noticeable jump, but today they have. I would create a design to celebrate the day, but it’s a little late to create a design for a day that has almost passed.

Go to Hell with the Seven Deadly Sins Logo

There was a time that my main site ( Gabriel Angel Design ) revolved around the 7 deadly sins. I’ve never been very religious, but religious history interests me. I would spend hours watch the specials on the history channel. Each of the 7 sins is as much fun as the next. It has become very easy for me to list them: pride, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, envy and lust. The recent economic times have made Greed a very popular subject in the news.

This greed logo was inevitable. There were designs for each individual sin, but I eventually needed to have one flagship design with them all. It was an obvious choice to pick a Gothic style font. I chose to have the “Seven Deadly Sins” part stick out with larger letters and an off white color. Things did not look right when I had just 1 of each of the sins in the background, so I chose to have multiple instances with a faded silver color.

This all blended nicely with the black background that I had chosen when I first began, but you can’t have a black box with sharp edges. It’s not easy on the eyes and looks really cheap. That’s where the rounded corners came in, problem solved. The last piece was the logo which fit easily in the center margins without taking away from the design.

A New Green Dollar Sign for a New Era in our Economy

The economy has been on everyone’s mind no matter if you are rich or poor. Wealthy people are worried about the new restrictions that might cost them their Gulf Stream 5s and Million dollar parties. The rest of us are just plain worried. Money has been on my mind, so it brought me back to this popular design.

It started as a simple design, but was a bit stylistic. I really wanted to add something to it and better integrate the branding. You got to love the green dollar sign when it means more money in your pocket, but hate it when it goes to paying bills. I really wanted to make it pop out, so I added a stronger border. The company logo was wrapped around that bottom curve of the $.

With the banks finding new ways to take our money, we may as well show off a dollar sign that they can’t take.
