During a hockey season years ago, I created my original Canadian Hockey puck design. It has sold well, but I’ve been wanting to create a better version. It’s become painfully obvious that Canadians love their ice hockey. I settled on an original style hockey puck to place the flag of Canada on.

This Canadian hockey design would start with that official puck with transparent background, then I took a good version of the signature maple leaf flag. I positioned the flag to match the puck and trimmed it up. Some lighting effects were added to give the flag a bit of shine. The store log was curved and added subtly. It’s a power play and this design scores.

I’m really happy about how my recent sports designs turned out, so I decided to go with volleyball just in time for summer. It’s time for the beach and walks in the sand, so I wanted a gritty beach type volleyball. I took the flag and wrapped it around the ball to create the USA volleyball design.


Trying to get the USA volleyball design right, it took a lot of adjusting, but the detail was worth it. It was quickly added to my USA Volleyball section at Zazzle, but adding to Cafepress took much longer. It’s a fun balance between ease of adding designs versus the shear variety of products available.

I had already created a logo for the democratic party, so it was time to create a version for the GOP. In my opinion, politics may differ from party to party, but the end result is usually the same. With this in mind, I have no problem supporting democrats and republicans alike since I’m not all that political. The stars and strips are now used for the Republican logo.

The Republican logo is a little longer and the shaping is different, but it is still very similar to the the democrat version. Whether you are conservative or not, I’m sure this is something that can represent the party well. Also available at our Republican Stars and Stripes Logo section.

I decided to add some more designs to my political site, since I had been neglecting it. It was time to do some more party designs in preparation for creating sections for the 2 major parties. Election season is always around the corner and people get very defensive about their politics. Although both parties have their faults, I decided to start with the democrats.

With the democrat party logo, I chose a font that I liked for politics and decided to impose the spirit of the US flag on the surface of the letters. The stars and stripes run straight across and are broken up by the letters. It is perfect timing to add this new version of my USA soccer ball design, since the US team pulled out a surprise tie in their World Cup match. Soccer is not at the top of all American sports, but the US Soccer fans are filled with pride.

In the spirit of USA soccer, I took the stars and stripes of the flag and made it so that they appear to be painted onto the surface of that classic soccer ball shape that we are all used to. The usual branding is slightly visible at the bottom. Let’s see if US Soccer will be the last one standing once the 2010 World Cup championship has ended.

Once I was completed with my new soccer ball flag design, I started working on a version for the Brazilians. Players like Ronaldinho are very popular around the world. The dominance of the Brazilian team has made it popular around the world. Brazilian soccer has been a frequent champion of the FIFA World Cup. The last time around I remember the very interesting displays of the nation’s flag on very interesting pieces of clothing. It’s a common practice for Brazil soccer fans.

Well I took that Brazil soccer pride, wrapped the flag around the contours of the classic soccer ball and made it appear to be wrapped onto each patch of the ball. The branding took it’s usual place and blended in. I immediately added the finished product to my Zazzle store Brazil Soccer section. The Cafepress section followed.

Around the time of the last World Cup, I started working on soccer designs. I used to play the game, so it was a little sports flashback for me. Italy was one of the first teams that I created a design for. Back then, I used the newer ball design that was the official ball of the FIFA World Cup for my first Italian soccer ball design.

Starting off with Italy soccer, I wanted to update the designs in time for the next world championship. This time I wanted to use the classic ball design. Having won the whole thing last time around, Italy was the natural first choice. I also enjoyed the Jersey Shore on MTV, so the Italian flags were on my mind. The flag was simple enough to get into a ball shape, as I had done it before.

When it came time to prepare the ball itself, I had a hard time working around the opposing black patches. It finally came down to using an all white ball. I found a way to get the stitches implemented into the design. It wasn’t too hard to get the flag to blend in. The brand was seamlessly added towards the bottom of the ball and I almost immediately added it to my Italy Soccer section at Zazzle. I followed it up again by adding it to my main domain store (linked to by the picture above).

Opening Day for Major League Baseball is creeping up fast and I felt it was time to add another country to my set of baseball flags. The Japanese baseball design did really well for me in the past and Hideki Matsui was a big part of the latest Yankees World Series win, so I thought it was time to update the Japan Baseball design.

For the Japanese Baseball design, I took a higher quality version of the flag of Japan to wrap around the gritty baseball. The land of the rising sun has a simple flag, but that red dot was tough to position correctly. The rest of the design fell into place nicely and I slapped the logo on it.

The design is now ready for each fan of the land of Nippon to enjoy. It’s also been added to the Japanese Baseball section of my secondary store.

In the past, I created a few Irish pride designs for Saint Patrick’s day and they did really well for me sale wise. With the green holiday just around the corner, I wanted to do something new. It was only natural to do something with the Irish flag and beers.

Irish beers are the perfect place for the flag. St. Patrick’s day may be about Ireland traditions, but it has become a multicultural holiday of drinking and wearing green. The sale of beers goes way up and there are plenty of bars that celebrate the holiday. I’m not sure if I have any Irish blood in me, but I’ve celebrated my fair share of Saint Paddy’s days.

In the college tradition of drinking large amounts of beer on this holiday, I definitely wanted a beer bottle centered design. I took 5 beer bottles standing next to each other and decided to integrate the flag of Ireland. It seemed obvious to take the flag and have it appear to be painted across all of the bottles. It came out really well, so I put the seal of approval (my logo) on the side of the last bottle.

It’s a design that I definitely need seen in multiple places, so I also added it to my Zazzle shop under the Irish Beer Bottles.
