The state graffiti designs have been selling well, so it was time for the next state to get the nod. I looked at the map and saw Iowa. It’s a state that I did not yet do, so I got to work. I did some quick research and found that the University of Iowa’s team, the Hawkeyes, use the now famous black and yellow colors. These were the perfect colors for the Iowa graffiti design.

Although the state of Iowa was not the subject of Wiz Khalifa’s “Black & Yellow”, the combination still seems suitable for any Hawkeye fan. With the colors chosen, I gave the graffiti style lettering that beveled look with some highlights to make the yellow pop, and then gave it the black shadow all the way around. I integrated the company logo into the “A” and sent it off to my Zazzle wall under the Iowa Graffiti section. It was then added to my main store through my Cafepress connection (click the pictures above to get there).

It was time to for another state in graffiti style letters, so in comes Indiana, home of the Hoosiers. I used crimson red for the lettering for the land of the Indians. This really sets off the mood for the Indiana graffiti design.

Once the Indiana graffiti was design was ready, I uploaded it to my IN graffiti wall. It’s now ready to represent for all fans of the teams and residents.

It was time to create the next state graffiti design and I’m about half way through all of the US states. At times I would choose the most popular states first, but this time I just started with the first state I could think of that wasn’t already completed. It was only natural to use the crimson red of the university as the color for the Alabama graffiti design.

This is Alabama state graffiti that any aerosol vandal would be proud of. The urban style lettering took the familiar shape of previous designs. It was all topped off with the Gabriel Angel Design logo.

One of these days, all 50 states in graffiti style will be ready, but for now it’s one step at a time. I literally chose Virginia by random to be next on the list to get the graffiti treatment.

It was hard to decide on the color, but I decided on the Cavaliers orange. Looking back, I might have been better off with Hokies colors. The orange lettering works for both teams I guess. It’s always a good bet to model state designs after it’s teams. This is especially true for Virginia graffiti.

The Virginia graffiti design takes on that same font style with black shadow and beveled letters. I’ve been thinking of switching up the style, but I want some consistency between the states. I wrapped it up pretty quickly and added it to both of my VA Graffiti sections of my shops.

I saw the Colorado Rockies on ESPN and so I choose Colorado to be the next state that I gave my graffiti treatment. For this Colorado graffiti, the color that I chose was very similar to that of the baseball team and is also a color that you would find a lot of in the Rocky mountains. I gave it the familiar style and black bordering. I finished up by integrating the brand into the bottom of the last ‘O’. After I added it to my main website, I also added it to my Colorado Graffiti section at the 2nd store.

Well I originally had the intention of donating a design to my T-Shirt vendor’s relief fund, but I didn’t like all the fine print that was associated with it. I’ve definitely been a fan of donating clothes and toys to charities, as it is much more likely that those things will reach the intended people.

Haiti graffiti, I figured, would be a great urban style piece of pride. The earthquake in Haiti did come as a huge shock, so I can’t imagine actually being there. It’s a very scary thought to have the earth moving below your feet while debris is falling form the sky. I’m glad that our country has shown the amount of support that is has, but there is that lingering shady feeling.

There was a minute that it felt like the semi quick response was almost an attempt of trying to make up for the whole Katrina debacle in a way. You probably know someone that feels the same way, or maybe you also feel that way. There is still much to be done in Louisiana, but it’s hard to argue against the fact that Haiti is in much greater need at this moment.

Despite the small questions that we all have, I have no question that you should definitely try to donate a little something. Yes, I know that part of our relief efforts come from your taxes, but a few more dollars from you can go a long way. You can go to UNICEF USA and donate what you can spare. Getting back to the design, I have a whole shop devoted to my version of the graffiti style. The goal is to eventually have every State, Country, Ethnicity, etc., in graffiti style lettering. I’m always wondering which design I will do next, but Haiti has obviously been on the mind. I took the red from the Haitian flag to be the main color of the design and gave it the shadow/beveled effects.

The time came for Illinois to get an urban design. It might be the prairie state, but there is a street culture that needs to be celebrated.

I don’t know too much about the state, but I knew that residents would enjoy the graffiti style design. I gave each letter of LI the curvy spray paint style. The “I” took a little extra customization, but the final product came out as I hoped. The color of the letters was based on the Illinois State University red.

The Illinois Graffiti was first added to my Zazzle wall, as I have been doing. Cafepress has definitely retaken the lead for my top sales source, though.

The state of Maine happened to be next on the list of states to get that spray painted look. I’ve learned a few new techniques, but I wanted to keep all the states in similar style. It was easy to get the basic design down, but I had a lot of trouble with what the color of ME would be. I finally came to the conclusion that the chosen shade of blue was a popular color for the state.

The font that I originally used had a funny way of spelling out the letter “m”. I had to find a way to rework the “m” which I finally settled on. It was then time to incorporate the brand, so I picked the very bottom edge of the “e” in Maine. It took awhile to get the length and curve right, but I finally finished it. It’s there, but doesn’t distract from the design.

The graffiti style designs were so popular as a part of my main site, that I had to open a whole other site that was dedicated to just these designs. I had plans to get through all of the United States, but it’s been slower going than I had thought. Similar styles are great, but you want to vary colors as much as possible.

It was time for the Ohio design to make an appearance. The color was very easy to pick, because you HAVE to use Buckeye scarlet red. Wavy lettering with that black outline gives this great state a nice urban flair. The new Gabriel Angel Design Logo marked the beginning of the new branding (previous post). It was an attempted to better integrate the Trademark name into the design. In this design, the company name rounds the last “o” in Ohio.
